Department of Science Teaching was established in 1998 within the Department of Primary Education at Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education and started accepting students in the 1998-1999 academic year.

The vision of our department; To train teacher candidates who understand science, develop positive attitudes towards science and can graduate with science literacy gains. With this vision, our department has had the honor of graduating hundreds of science teachers since 2002.

In our department, education is provided at three different levels: undergraduate, graduate and doctoral.

In the undergraduate courses of our science teaching department; It includes field courses (physics, chemistry, biology), education courses and elective courses. Along with the undergraduate courses taken, teacher candidates are instilled with the skills to present information to students with innovative methods, techniques and theories. "Learning by doing", which is an integral part of science along with field courses, was given as practice as well as theory, and prospective teachers were enabled to transform knowledge into practice, gain practice and prepare for the future. Practical courses are carried out in three laboratories: physics, chemistry and biology. Our department has approximately 250 students in undergraduate programs.

Score Type and Quota

Our department accepts students from the numerical field. Our general quota, which was initially 150, was first reduced to 100 and then determined as 55 for both the first and second education.
